EL&C Baillieu Philanthropy

Education and Venture Capital

Join us to learn how philanthropy is taking a ‘venture capital’ approach by investing in pioneering education projects and helping to transform students’ lives.

The performance of Australian students has declined over the past decade, and the gap between students from the lowest and highest socio-economic backgrounds is widening. While governments will always provide the majority of school funding, philanthropy is increasingly playing a role in addressing the challenges faced by students and schools in our highest-needs communities. Family foundations, community foundations, trusts and individuals are supporting innovative and effective place-based trials of evidence-based approaches to help give thousands of students the opportunities they need to succeed at school.

Schools Plus is a national charity that connects philanthropic supporters with schools in disadvantaged communities to improve student outcomes.
